ICSE 2025 is part of the IEEE Computer Society Sustainability Initiative

Sustainability at the Rogers Centre

The Rogers Centre, our venue, has numerous initiatives for sustainability, including in its food production, waste management and architecture.

Carbon Neutrality

$7 from each registration will go towards planting trees to ensure the conference is carbon neutral (including covering the carbon emitted by those travelling to the conference. Sigsoft will also be matching this with $3 for each attendee, for a total of $10. We will be planting trees through One Tree Planted.

Waste Reduction

In addition to waste reduction initiatives by the venue, we are going to be contacting all registrants in late February or early March with a number of questions, and one of them will be to ask if they prefer not to receive the customary gifts (e.g. tote bag bag, water bottle, etc.,) to reduce waste.

We will be producing only a limited number of banners and other decorative items that would have to be thrown away at the end of the conference.

Travel Impact Reduction

The conference venue is situated right in the centre of the city, on the light rail line (that can be used to travel to and from the airport or train station), with all booked hotels and our reception venue in walkable distance.

We have obtained discounts from VIA Rail (code provided on registration) to encourage people to use the train, rather than fly, if they are travelling from locations like Montreal, Quebec City, Kingston and Toronto.
